The case
In June 2025, The Hague hosted the NATO Summit, one of the most significant international gatherings of the year. To accommodate world leaders, delegates, media representatives and support staff from across the globe, the existing capacity of the World Forum had to be significantly expanded.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responsible for organising the summit, selected Neptunus as its partner for temporary building solutions. Working closely with the World Forum and other project partners, Neptunus delivered a large scale expansion that seamlessly integrated with the existing venue.
The solution
Within just four weeks, Neptunus realised more than 12,000 m² of temporary accommodation adjacent to the World Forum. The expansion included conference facilities, meeting rooms and dedicated media spaces, creating a fully integrated extension of the venue.
A standout feature of the project was a custom designed elevated walkway. This prefabricated connection linked the existing World Forum directly to the temporary buildings, enabling secure and efficient movement between the permanent and temporary facilities.
Using Neptunus’ modular building system, the structures were delivered rapidly while maintaining the highest standards of quality, comfort and functionality. As all components are reusable, the project also aligned perfectly with the sustainability objectives of the organisers.
The challenge
Hosting an event of this magnitude required additional high quality facilities within a limited timeframe. The temporary expansion needed to:
- Meet strict security, safety and construction requirements
- Provide premium quality spaces suitable for an international summit
- Connect seamlessly with the existing World Forum complex
- Support the sustainability ambitions of both the venue and the organisers
The verdict
The NATO Summit 2025 was successfully hosted without disruption, with the temporary buildings playing a crucial role in the overall event infrastructure. The project demonstrated how demountable construction can provide a fast, flexible and sustainable solution for large scale international events, without compromising on quality or security.
