From construction to original condition

DekaMarkt Vaassen – from construction to return to its original state

The case

In Vaassen, a temporary DekaMarkt supermarket of over 1,200 m² was realised, measuring approximately 40 by 30 metres. This solution ensured that the store remained fully operational for customers while the original supermarket in the village centre was demolished. The redevelopment of the site created space not only for a brand-new supermarket, but also for apartments and additional housing, contributing to a future-proof village centre.

The solution

The temporary store was realised on the edge of the village, on a site that was originally used as agricultural land. To make it suitable for intensive use, the ground was reinforced with mixed aggregate, and parking spaces were created using 2 by 2 metre concrete slabs. Over a period of three years, this temporary Neptunus solution provided a fully functional and easily accessible retail environment for both customers and staff.

Reinstated to its original state

After completion of the new development in the town centre, DekaMarkt returned to its permanent location. The temporary building was then carefully dismantled, and the concrete slabs were removed. The site was reinstated as agricultural land, bringing the cycle of temporary building to a close in a sustainable and responsible way.
