Project in focus: sports hall for UK Defence Academy
Neptunus built a modern temporary sports facility at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom in Shrivenham, commissioned by Serco and purchased by the Ministry of Defence. The structure was constructed using the innovative Flexolution system and includes a 9-metre-high main hall (756 m²) for various sports, alongside a connected ancillary building (378 m²) with changing rooms, an activity zone, storage and office space.
The facility meets Sport England standards and complies with MOD and DIO construction requirements. It features heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and achieved an EPC rating of A thanks to an energy-efficient air source heat pump. Despite the secure site and Covid-19 restrictions, the project was completed within four weeks. The result is a sustainable and fully equipped solution that supports the wellbeing of staff and military course members.
