Neptunus builds facilities at Camp Kandahar, Afghanistan

Neptunus recently completed the construction of new large-scale facilities at Kandahar Airfield, a military base for international forces active in Afghanistan. This week, the Neptunus team returned home to Kessel after 10 days of construction work in Afghanistan.

Between its overall appearance and special features, the two-storey, 2,800 m2 Neptunus structure is nearly impossible to distinguish from a permanent building. But Neptunus’ ingenious solutions are surprisingly easy to assemble and dismantle. With its desert camouflage pattern, the semi-permanent structure was designed to blend in with the landscape. For added safety, the outer walls are made of blast-proof film to protect the building’s occupants from flying shards of broken glass.

The new facilities will feature office space as well as sleeping quarters for 700 people, a considerable upgrade in comfort compared to what many of their colleagues have experienced on site. Dorrie Eilers, CEO of Neptunus, states: “We were selected for the high quality and durability we offer, as our solutions were designed to last far longer than any of the current structures available.”
