Blokker shop quickly re-opened after fire
In the centre of the town of Roosendaal, the Netherlands, Neptunus provided a temporary shop for retail chain Blokker. The temporary structure is an Evolution, a unique and highly flexible concept for semi-permanent buildings - designed and developed by Neptunus. The temporary shop was a replacement for the old premises that were destroyed by fire. Blokker naturally wanted to open its doors to the shopping public as quickly as possible, and first considered a new building. However, the local authorities in Roosendaal preferred to relocate the new Blokker shop in the still to be built shopping centre on the Nieuwe Markt. This involved a long wait for Blokker, so the search started for alternative premises. The solution was found in Neptunus' semi-permanent structure the "Evolution". The Evolution is an aluminium construction with a special hydraulic system that lifts the roof in a single action. The structure is then finished using special wall panels. In this way a new shop was built measuring 30 by 30 metres with a height of 5.20 metres. Neptunus also supplied all the other essential facilities - including warehouse space, sanitary facilities, a canteen area for the staff and all the safety equipment. It took less than two months to complete constructing and fitting this special project. The temporary premises will be used for about two and a half years.
