Cliff-hanger at Mediterranean Sea
The launch of the latest model of an exclusive make of car naturally requires an equally exclusive setting. BMW set Neptunus the challenge of creating a unique location on the edge of a desolate cliff, towering high above the Mediterranean. Oh, and by the way, the structure wasn't supposed to pay the slightest resemblance to a 'tent’. In the angle formed by two ravines an auto-hydraulic Evolution was constructed – without using cranes. The space frame, the roof construction (calculated to bear heavy lighting rigs, cameras and loud speakers) and the wide free span without columns were important advantages that gave Neptunus the edge over other competitors for this tender. The job was done battling the elements with heavy snowfall and raging winds of up to force 12. As the tight constraints of the design imposed by BMW dictated floor heating, Neptunus placed the Evolution on a platform and in the space underneath laid a network of air ducts and compartments that allowed floor heating to be spread evenly throughout the structure.
